上院議会での議題は公民権法案に関する住宅開放の問題でした。この法案に対して伝統的に反対を唱えているグループの結束は固く、法案の擁護者は、もっとも強力な支持者たちからの票も失っています。ジョンソン大統領は基本的には、あらゆる種類の宅地差別に禁止令を提案していますが、もともと最初から勝ち目はなく、議員たちも全員そのことを承知しています。そのため、妥協策が住宅可法委員会で検討されました。
ロサンジェルスでコメディアンのレニー・ブルースが亡くなりました。死因は睡眠薬の飲みすぎと思われます。42歳でした。
マーティン・ルーサー・キング牧師は、日曜日に予定されているシカゴ郊外シセロでの住宅解放デモ行進を中止するつもりはないと語りました。郡の行政区を管轄するリチャード・オグルビー保安官は、デモ行進を中止するようキング牧師に要請しました。一方、シセロ警察は、デモが行なわれる場合は、州軍の出動を要請するつもりだと語っています。なお、現在、ジョージア州アトランタに滞在中のキング牧師は、火曜日、シカゴに戻る予定です。
シカゴで9人の見習看護婦を殺害した罪で起訴されているリチャード・スペックの第1回目の公判が大陪審で行なわれます。被害者たちは、いずれもシカゴ内のアパートで刺殺、あるいは絞殺されているのを発見されました。
ワシントンでは、反米活動に関する議会の予備議会で、討論がヴェトナム反戦運動に移るにつれて、緊迫した空気に包まれています。傍聴していたデモの参加者たちは、反戦スローガンを大声で歌い始めたため、強制的に退廷させられました。前大統領リチャード・ニクソンは、現在ヴェトナムで行なわれている戦争で実質的な成果が認められない場合、米国はさらに5年間戦争を続けるつもりだと語りました。
ニューヨークで開催された海外派兵戦士の集会で、ニクソンはこの国に於ける反戦運動は、アメリカ合衆国に不利益をもたらす、最大の、そして、ただひとつの凶器であると演説しました。

名前は立派なコンド（アパートメント）
だけれど・・・、
築１５年の中古物件です・・・（笑。
1階はパーキングになって、プールやランドリーもある。
中庭が気に入って買ったんだけれど、実はこの建物”木造”です。
木造の分譲マンションなんて
日本じゃ考えられないけれど、
気候の関係や不動産価値の考え方で
Canadaでは結構多いんだ。
部屋の中の壁面に温水給湯管が通っていて、床暖房ならぬ
壁面暖房完備・・・です。
ツー・ベッドルーム＋リビングでバス・トイレは１つしかないけれど、
仲間が集まれば最高の秘密基地なんだ。
晴れた日には自慢の中庭に、
よく天使が舞い降ります・・・。
小さなポンポン船
今にも泣き出しそうな
空を見ながら
帰りのポンポン船に乗る・・・。
のんびりユックリ進む船だけれど
(子供の頃TVで見ていた”10セント”って言うアニメの船ソックリ）
水面に近いから結構面白い・・・。
振り返って島を見ながら
「もう来ないんだろうな・・・」
って思ったけれど・・・、
キット、beerが無くなればまた来る・・・かも・・・（笑。
